CENTERS FOR HUMANITY ARE SPACES WHERE COMMUNITY MEMBERS GATHER AND REFLECT CRITICALLY ON THEIR COMMON VALUES

Children make friends, learn new skills, develop their creativity. Youths will appropriate local matters, develop the sense of responsible leaders, transform themselves in to agents of change.  Women and girls live decently and in dignity. Older people regain their dignity, PWDs have their rights respected, Families live in peace and tranditional leaders get empowered and skilled sufficiently to manage local problems. 

We promote the Culture of togetherness, compassion, and Ubuntu spirit that communities living together thrive to live harmiously. 

We make sure our target groups  consisting of children, youths, women, older people, people living with disability have no harm within their ecosystem.

CEEDECO’s peace-building initiatives are focused on transforming communities and fostering harmony across the Great Lakes Region (Burundi, DRC, and Rwanda). Through a series of impactful programs, we mobilize local communities, raise awareness, and build sustainable peace for future generations.

Movement for Humanism Actions
(MOV-HUMANA)

The MOV-HUMANA program is a key initiative under CEEDECO’s strategy, aimed at creating local and regional peace-building networks across Burundi, DRC, and Rwanda.

Centers for Humanity

Community Dialogues through Narrative Theater

CEEDECO fosters dialogue to promote social cohesion using the Narrative Theater methodology, encouraging individuals to transform problem-based stories into strength-based narratives.

  • A shift from conflict-based narratives to solutions-based approaches.
  • Promotes social cohesion and community unity.

The Festival of Peace

An annual event celebrating peace-building successes in the region, bringing together stakeholders and community advocates to recognize both small and large peace-building victories.

  • Thousands gather every year to celebrate peace.
  • A platform to share progress and set new goals.

Ubuntu Residential Peace Academy

CEEDECO envisions transforming South Kivu into a haven of peace, with the Ubuntu Residential Peace Academy serving as a training hub for peace-building activists from around the globe.

  • Trains participants in the African Ubuntu philosophy of peace-building.
  • 30 participants per year, receiving tailored training on applying Ubuntu locally and globally.
